James Blake: "Serena Williams is the GOAT"
Many fans, madia, insiders, tennis players and former tennis players think that Serena Williams is the GOAT, the best tennis player in the history of the Game. We all know about Serena Williams' extraordinary career, literally studded with Grand Slam trophies and countless victories.
The American was also able to distinguish herself in women's doubles, where she reached the first position of the WTA ranking in 2010 and won 14 Major titles. She is also very strong in mixed doubles, in this specialty she won the 1998 edition of Wimbledon and the US Open, as well as having reached the final of the Roland Garros in the same year.
Regarding the status of the American champion, James Blake has no doubts and crowns the countrywoman as the strongest in the history of women's tennis.
James Blake, Serena's former partner on the court in the early 2000s, shared an interesting post on Twitter about their winning the 2003 Hopman Cup. He shared on his twitter profile the photo initially posted by the USTA, again via a social twitter, in which he raises the Australian competition trophy to the sky together with Serena Williams.
James Blake: "Serena Williams is the GOAT"He wrote: "My hair is gone but Serena remains the best of all. Spending time with the GOAT brings to mind wonderful memories. That was a really fun week," writes the American who replies to his federation who had already celebrated his look.
In that edition of the Hopman Cup, the United States of James Blake and Serena Williams overtook Belgium, Spain and Uzbekistan in Group A of the initial group, to then defeat Australia led by Lleyton Hewitt and Alicia Molik in the final, for 3-0. It was the second success of the States in the competition, after that of 1997 (thanks to Justin Gimelstob and Chanda Rubin).
With six total triumphs, the United States ranks first in this special ranking (today they haven't won since 2011); in second place we find, on an equal footing, Spain and Switzerland, the latter capable of winning the tournament in the last two years in which it was held (2018 and 2019).
Blake, former world number 4, made quarter-finals at the Australian Open and Flushing Meadows, in addition to having played the last act of the 2006 Finals, beaten without problems by the Swiss Roger Federer. In his career he has won ten major Tour titles, also reaching the final in two Masters 1000 events (also defeated by Federer). The Australian Open 2021 will start on February 8, the trophy holder will be Serbian Novak Djokovic.
My hair is gone, but Serena is still the greatest. That was such a fun week. Spending time with the GOAT is always a fond memory. https://t.co/A1FSK7IfK0
