Carlos Alcaraz on vaccine: We all have to do it

Rising Spanish star Carlos Alcaraz, 17, has a clear view on the vaccination as he insists that we all ''have to do it.''

Though he is one of the youngest players on the Tour, Alcaraz has shown responsibility and called for everyone to take precaution during the pandemic.

“You always have to take precautions even if you are at home and have vacation days,” said Alcaraz on COVID-19 in an interview with Marca ahead of the tournament.

“If you go out to party and do not take the proper precautions, it hurts you in your work. And being two weeks without doing physical makes you lose shape.

“Even if we don’t want to (have the vaccine), we all have to do it and so do I. It is the best solution to end the virus and live a normal life as soon as possible.''

Alcaraz was recently praised by Emil Ruusuvuori

Prior to Marbella, Alcaraz played at the Miami Masters, where he was beaten in his opener by fellow rising star Ruusuvuori.

It was a tight battle as Ruusuvuori won 6-4 2-6 7-5.

"It was decided by very few points, it was a very small difference [between us] today,” Ruusuvuori said afterward.

“In the end, he had a chance in the third, we both had our chances. But I was able to come back and somehow get the win. But it was a very difficult match. He was playing very well, and I’m just happy to get through.''

Ruusuvori had nothing but positive words to say of the rising Spanish star.

"He’s very young and very talented. A very good player [that] I’m sure we’re going to hear about a lot,” Ruusuvuori said. “So much power already at that age, he can do some serious damage. But somehow today I got the win.''
