'Roger Federer was too good in that match', says ATP star

The 2021 edition of the Miami Open had to deal with the many forfeits of the eve. Apart from Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic and Dominic Thiem, Nick Kyrgios did not go to Hard Rock Stadium for the first Masters 1000 of the season either. The Australian talent, also thanks to the strict measures in force in his country, played very little last season and in 2021 he never set foot on the pitch after the Australian Open (in which he reached the third round). What if the Canberra player starts missing tennis a little bit? The question arises, given that Nick shared on his Instagram profile a video containing the highlights of his splendid battle against Roger Federer in the semifinal of the Miami Open 2017. In what was the penultimate edition of the tournament in the magnificent setting of Crandon Park (before of the move to Miami Gardens in 2019), Federer and Kyrgios met in the semifinals, giving life to one of the most exciting matches of recent years. The Swiss won after three hours and ten minutes of pure entertainment.

Australian tennis player Nick Kyrgios had a short stint in the Australian Open 2021. Although he lost in the third round, he entertained fans with a great display of tennis. During his match against Dominic Thiem, he was up two sets before he lost the next three and crashed out of the first Major of the season. Six-time Grand Slam winner Boris Becker followed the Australian player’s journey keenly and found Nick’s performance and attitude positive. He also felt that the 25-year-old player has the potential to do wonders in the sport and can be crowned champion at Wimbledon one day. Becker feels Kyrgios has the perfect game to achieve success at Wimbledon. The serve Nick has at his disposal along with the promptness he shows in his shot-making indicates that he has the tools to go the distance in London. The 53-year-old three-time Wimbledon winner added, “With that serve and his quick game, there is so much that he could achieve. Whether he does that is going to be down to one person – Nick himself.” As the new season has begun only recently, fans can expect to see more of Nick.
