In the women's singles of the Italian Open 2021, Cori Gauff qualified for the second round of the tournament in Rome, after winning in threes ets against Yulia Putintseva, with the final score of 7-5 4-6 6-4.

Cori now will face Maria Sakkari in the second round. In fact, with a very complicated 7-6 (5) 3-6 6-2 against Polona Hercog, the Greek reaches the fascinating second round against the American.

In the other matches, Petra Kvitova, after twenty minutes decidedly complicated, raises the level of play with the response and above all with the service and wins 1-6 6-0 6-2 after just under two hours of play. Alison Riske eliminated against Iga Swiatek, ever closer to finding the clay courts of Bois de Boulogne.

The two shake hands at the foot of the tie break: the winner of the American derby between Sloane Stephens and Madison Keys awaits the Pole in the second round. Petra Martic needs the third set to break Shelby Rogers' resistance, Amanda Anisimova also returns to success.
