Andy Murray 'disappointed' after failing to win medal at Tokyo Olympics

Former world No. 1 Andy Murray admitted he was disappointed after exiting the Tokyo Olympics in the quarterfinal. 

Murray, who decided against playing singles at the Tokyo Olympics, partnered fellow compatriot Joe Salisbury for the doubles event. 

After two straight set wins, Murray and Salisbury made a positive start to their quarterfinal clash but ended up losing in three sets as Croatia's Marin Cilic and Ivan Dodig claimed a 4-6 7-6 (2) 10-7 win. 

"I don't know if I'll get the opportunity to play again," Murray said following the defeat, as quoted on Sky Sports.

"I've loved every minute of playing in the Olympics. I wish that today could have gone differently.

"I had another chance with Joe to win a medal, we were so close, and that's what's disappointing. I would like to have done some stuff differently in the match to try to help out more.

"I'll see how the injury heals. That's what will dictate it. I'm not going to rush something if it's not there.

"My team think I should be OK to play the US Open, judging by how I felt in matches here. It's not as physical as singles but there's a lot of explosive movements and my leg felt fine."

Murray and Salisbury had a great chance to make the semifinal 

Murray and Salisbury made a positive start to the match, having broken Cilic and Dodig in the opening game of the match. 

Murray and Salisbury saved a break point in the fourth game, before serving out for the opener in the 10thgame. 

After winning the first set, Murray and Salisbury earned the first break of the second set in the fifth game. 

Unfortunately for the Britons, they failed to hold on to their serve as Cilic and Dodig broke back in the eighth game. 

Cilic and Dodig then dominated the tie-break to force a decider. 

Cilic and Dodig were 3-2 down in the match tie-break but then won six consecutive points to take an 8-3 lead. 

A few points later, Cilic and Dodig converted their second match point to complete a comeback win.
