Cori Gauff: Roger Federer, Nick Kyrgios my dream mixed doubles partners

Rising American star Cori Gauff has revealed that 20-time Grand Slam champion Roger Federer and former world No. 13 Nick Kyrgios are her dream partners.

Gauff, 17, hasn't played mixed doubles since 2019.

Back then, she teamed up with Briton Jay Clarke to play mixed doubles at Wimbledon.

Unfortunately for Gauff and Clarke, they ended up losing in the first round.

"People don't know this but Nick Kyrgios and Roger Federer are literally my dream mixed doubles partners. So hopefully we can make it happen," Gauff said at the Montreal Masters, as quoted on Tennis Majors.

Gauff to play mixed doubles with Kyrgios at the Australian Open

Last week, Kyrgios tweeted to Gauff: "Mixed at Aussie Open?", to which the American responded: "Let's make it happen."

Kyrgios, 26, hasn't played mixed doubles since the 2020 Australian Open.

At Melbourne Park a year and a half ago, Kyrgios teamed up with rising American star Amanda Anisimova.

Kyrgios and Anisimova made the round-of-16 before exiting the event.

Meanwhile, Kyrgios revealed last week that he is feeling weird about his career.

Kyrgios also suggested that he could soon retire from the game.

"Honestly, I don't miss it so much anymore," Kyrgios said in Washington, when asked did he miss the Tour. "It's good to be back, of course, especially in these tournaments where I'm so comfortable and there are a lot of people, hopefully everything goes well. Instead, the situation is still crazy, every time I play a tournament I feel those vibes that tell me that this could be the last time I am here. In Atlanta I felt the same. It's like I don't know where I am, I feel weird, I feel weird about my career right now. Seeing the fans again is the best part of being back, seeing all their support."

It remains to be seen if Gauff and Kyrgios will indeed play mixed doubles at the Australian Open.
