Sam Querrey:Sometimes you want to pat Roger Federer and congratulate him on his shot

Former Wimbledon semifinalist Sam Querrey is impressed by the ability Roger Federer possesses on the tennis court.

Querrey has played Federer four times throughout his career and he has never beaten the Swiss.

"Roger makes shots that other players don't. When you play against him and he pulls those kind of shots, sometimes you want to pat him on the hand to congratulate him," Querrey said of Federer, as quoted on We Love Tennis France.

Recently, Richard Gasquet also had a big praise for Federer.

"For me, Federer is unimaginable and irreplaceable, he's the greatest player of all time in terms of aesthetics, the grace he has on the court. I watch tennis for that, although Djokovic is certainly the best," Gasquet said, per We Are Tennis.

Federer hasn't played since Wimbledon

After making the Wimbledon quarterfinal, Federer pulled out of the Tokyo Olympics, Toronto Masters and Cincinnati Masters due to a knee issue.

However, making the Wimbledon quarterfinal proved to Federer that he's still capable of playing at the highest possible level.

"To some extent it's nice to see that the work I put in paid off [and] that I'm able to play at this level with best-of-five sets,” Federer said.

“When you're young, you don't ask yourself the question. But when you're me, with the year I had, it's all question marks all over the place. You have to prove it again to yourself that you can actually do it. I was willing to take losses for the sake of information, just to be out there, [to] get the body in shape for hopefully when Wimbledon comes around,m that I can actually wake up in the morning and feel all right, that I can still go out and play five sets.

“I feel that way, so it's very rewarding and it's a good feeling. Now we'll see how much more I’ve got left in the tank. Clearly [it] was important again to win in straight sets. [I am] looking forward to the next round."
