'You get to practise with Roger Federer sometimes', says ATP star

On the ATP Tour there is a reality that rarely does not accommodate what happens on the court: consistently rising in the FedEx ATP Rankings and lifting trophies is something that defines Casper Ruud's present, which has allowed him become a player few would choose to have on the other side of the court. In fact, the Norwegian signed a winning streak of 12 consecutive matches, having lifted trophies at the Nordea Open (d. To Coria) and the Swiss Open Gstaad (d. To Gaston) in July, achieving something that had not happened almost 10 years ago. , since Andy Murray in October 2011 when former world No. 1 in the world lifted the trophies in Bangkok (d. To Young), Tokyo (d. To Nadal) and Shanghai (d. To Ferrer). The 22-year-old's strong form on clay has made him a player to watch in the coming months, when he tries to sustain his performance on fast courts as well. "It's the short-term goal... to have a good American tour and to be able to get the best results on those tracks as well," Pedro Clar, one of Ruud's coaches, told the ATP Tour. “Obviously, another objective is to be able to enter the Top 10. It is getting closer and closer, but we are aware that there are very good players both in front and behind, so we will have to keep doing very good results to be able to achieve it”, he added. The Norwegian also improved his ranking by two places, as he moved from World No. 14 to 12. However, he has revealed his dream of beating either Roger Federer or Rafael Nadal in the near future.

Casper Ruud pays tribute to the Big 3

Casper Ruud came under the limelight after his victory at three events in three consecutive weeks. He has mentioned his tennis idols in an interview with ATP. However, he does believe he can beat his idols, Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal. “Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal. It was more looking up to them. When you are young it is tough to believe you can be there yourself and beat them. They are more like an inspiration, but the older you get, the more you start to believe, and you get to practise with them sometimes. They are obviously better than you, but maybe not as much as you would maybe think,” said Ruud when asked about his dream victories. “I was lucky enough to play Novak Djokovic and Federer once, when I went onto the court I went to try and win. You have to try and look at them as just another player you want to beat,” said Ruud. Casper Ruud shows the mentality of a true winner. He is meant for greater achievements in the future, as his mentality suggests. The World No. 12 has the potential of upsetting many big players; however, he will have to remain humble.
