Hopman Cup: Norrie tops Tsitsipas to help Great Britain beat Greece

The 31st edition of the Hopman Cup has started with a thrilling tie at the RAC Arena, with Great Britain beating Greece 2-1 in the deciding mixed doubles point! All four players have made their Hopman Cup debut and it was a great battle in all three matches, going down to the wire in the Fast4 mixed doubles clash that the Britons won 5-4 in the deciding tie break! In the opening match of this year's edition, Cameron Norrie defeated Stefanos Tsitsipas 7-6 6-4 in under two hours after a great battle in the opening set. There were no break points in the entire set and the tie break was also a very interesting one, with Cameron saving a set point at 6-7 with a volley winner. 

In the end, the Briton converting the third set point at 9-8 with a service winner after 56 minutes of entertaining tennis. They lost the ground on serve in the second set, though, trading four breaks in the opening six games before Norrie raised his level, holding at love in games seven and nine to keep the pressure on Stefanos. The Greek saved a break point in game eight but he failed to do the same two games later, spraying a forehand error at 4-5 to lose the serve and the match. In the women's match, Maria Sakkari leveled the overall score after a 6-0 4-6 6-2 triumph over Katie Boulter, dominating in sets one and three to deliver the much-needed point for Greece before the deciding mixed doubles match. 

Great Britain won the opening set with a great performance in the tie break before Stefanos and Maria responded by winning the tie break of the second set 5-2 to set up the deciding set that would determine the winner of the tie. The Greeks held everything in their hands, leading 3-0 and missing a match point in the following game that could have pushed them over the finish line. The Britons kept fighting, breaking back in game five and setting up the third tie break where they saved another match point at 3-4, winning the last two points to seal the deal and emerge as winners.
