Maria Sharapova: 'In tennis you get to control your destiny'

Maria Sharapova is proud to be an amazing tennis player. The Russian is very active off-court as she attends many events, but her main focus keeps to be tennis. 'When you're a model or an actress you can be great at what you do, but if someone doesn't put you on a cover of a magazine or doesn't go watch your movies, no matter how good you are you're going to have a tough time, you know, raising your career and making money out of it and keep getting jobs', said Sharapova. 'So that's why I love this sport, is because my wins and losses are in my hands and I get to control that and get to control your destiny a bit.'

Asked about the most famous athletes she met in her life, Sharapova replied: 'I met a lot of former athletes that were working for NBC, which was like Scott Hamilton. I don't know. It was really bizarre just like having breakfast around each other like it was no big deal. All these athletes getting together, not actually working on our sport, but that was special.'
