Roger Federer Foundation will reach new heights, says mother Lynette

The Roger Federer Foundation is set to reach one million children through their programmes at the end of the year. There is a lot of happiness and satisfaction for the results they have achieved so far. 'It's always impressive how much we are happy with people', said Lynette Federer, referring to her regular visits in Africa.

Roger's mother is from South Africa, she knows the mentality, culture and customs of the Southern regions in the continent. 'We have been working exclusively with local organizations for many years', said Janine Händel, the Foundation CEO. 'Education is the key. The main thing is that we believe in people. We motivate, inspire and create. We start, for example, a group of mothers who then need to organize themselves to create a school kitchen. When we come back months later, help-help groups get bigger.'

They currently support 14 programmes in Botswana, Malawi, Namibia, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Sudafrica and Switzerland. 'I am proud of what we reached in the last ten years and more', admitted Lynette Federer', 'but we can reach even bigger heights. We are ready for a long journey. And I am convinced that Roger still has a lot of passion for this good cause.'
