We do not want Roger Federer's charity trips to be a show - Foundation CEO
Roger Federer is always very modest and humble, and so does his Foundation. The Swiss never reveals how much money he gives to charity every year, as he does not want to be praised for it. He just wants to help others. And in an interview to CNN, the CEO of the Roger Federer Foundation Janine Händel confirmed it. 'Our communication strategy is to be modest, which is somehow Swiss', said Händel.
'We first do and then speak about it. And even though we are a stakeholder in this whole value chain, there are many other people which we are dependent on their delivery, on their success as a local partner organization in the field, on governments which also contribute too. It's never the success of us. It's absolutely a teamwork and that's important. We don't take journalists with us when going on field visits with Roger but that also has particular reasons. For him, these are important learning journeys. He really needs to experience our work, and it's not possible when it becomes a show and that's him neither. We do not show here, we do philanthropy, we do cooperation work on the ground and we want to experience our trips. Is it working, is it the impact we were hoping to have, and this is why we want to create an intimate moment as possible, and that's why we just bring our VJ with us which is the same since the beginning in order then to share afterwards of the intimate moments.'
