Kevin Anderson Trains with Special Olympics Athletes in Abu Dhabi
Tennis - World No. 6 Kevin Anderson took some time off from his time at the Mubadala World Tennis Championships in Abu Dhabi to train with some athletes from the UAE team that would compete in the Special Olympics World Games. The athletes were offered tips and advice for the competition, which will be held next year. The athletes will also represent UAE in tennis at the World Games in March.
The Special Olympics World Games Abu Dhabi 2019 will be the largest sports and humanitarian event in 2019 across the world. The event will be held from March 14 to March 21st and more than 7,500 athletes and 3,000 coaches representing more than 192 countries will participate in the Games. There will be 24 officially sanctioned Olympic-style sports in venues across Abu Dhabi.
The Special Olympics is a global organization that serves athletes with intellectual disabilities working with hundreds of thousands of volunteers and coaches each year. Since the establishment of the Special Olympics in 1968, the number of people with and without intellectual disabilities who are involved with the organization has been growing. Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates will be the host of the 2019 Special Olympics World Summer Games. The Games will be held in March of 2019. Abu Dhabi is the first place in the Middle East-North Africa Region to be the host of a Special Olympics World Games.
Anderson was beaten in the final of the Mubadala World Tennis Championships by World No. 1 Novak Djokovic.
