Mats Wilander comments on Naomi Osaka possibly overtaking Serena Williams

In an interview to Express, the seven-time Grand Slam winner Mats Wilander commented on Naomi Osaka's three-set win over Petra Kvitova on Saturday. Wilander, a Eurosport commentator, was asked if the Japanese can follow Serena Williams's footsteps. “I’m not sure. You never know how long you can last with injuries", said Wilander. "But you think with a game like that, she is unbelievably mature with her demeanour on court, she hits the ball extremely well of both sides, she has a big first serve and has improved her second serve over the last 24 hours. She doesn’t really volley, doesn’t hit a sliced backhand and it’s a lot of places she can improve for those rainy days when nothing is working. She is slightly one dimensional but because of her movement and power yes, she has a chance to win, not 23 majors, but between five and ten without doing anything out of the ordinary.”

Wilander also commented on how the final was: “I thought it was a really good match, a perfect final. It had all the drama that you would ever want. There were two contrasting styles and consisting personalities. I think that was the perfect scenario on how to win the second slam."

On the men's final between Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic, Navratilova said that they are likely to overcome Roger Federer's Grand Slam titles: 'Now tennis players play less and they take care better of their bodies. They travel on private flights.'

Navratilova added: 'He is very fast and I would say more aggressive than Djokovic. When can, he can volley and he can hurt you a lot. It will be a great match.'he
