Novak Djokovic did not let Rafael Nadal breathe, says Mats Wilander

The seven-time Grand Slam winner Mats Wilander commented on Novak Djokovic's success against Rafael Nadal in the Australian Open final on Sunday. Wilander thinks the Serb particularly dominated on serve while the Spaniard struggled. "There was no difference between the way Rafa looked today and all the other opponents Djokovic faced at the Australian Open," said Wilander speaking on Eurosport. "Djokovic's serve has often been underrated, but I think the biggest difference between these two players when they are on hard court is that Djokovic gets free points on the first serve. It looks like Nadal is not sure where to return the ball from. Nadal does not get any free point, it does not matter his power or where he serves, Novak seems to be able to read and anticipate what Nadal does. When Novak is playing well, he definitely reads Nadal's game better than Nadal reads Novak's game."

Wilander added: "We were hoping we would see a good match, to see Rafa use his forehand down the line more and go on Djokovic's backhand, but he got stuck in some of those rallies and Novak's backhand is good. He hits some cross winners and his court position is unbelievable. Before today at the Australian Open Djokovic was taking the ball from behind the baseline and today he is nearly up from middle in front. Playing Nadal, that should be impossible. He took the ball on the rise and he did not let Nadal breath. He has confidence in knowing how to play Rafa and we thought Rafa was gonna came up and play a risky tennis, but Novak is unbeatable. Three Majors in a row for the fourth time in his career, he once won four Majors in a row and he can do it again. I can't wait to see them play at the French Open if that happens."
