ATP New York - DRAW: John Isner and Frances Tiafoe lead charge

The Memphis Open was a part of the ATP calendar for more than 40 years before it had to be canceled in 2017, struggling to find the sponsors for the last couple of years and having to sell the license. The event moved to Long Island, New York, staged at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum on black indoor hard courts which makes it a unique stop in the ATP calendar. Kevin Anderson was the inaugural champion in 2018 after beating Sam Querrey in the title match but he will not be in New York to defend the title, withdrawing due to an elbow injury and leaving John Isner as the top seed. John will face Bernard Tomic or Lukas Lacko in the second round before the quarter-final clash against Jordan Thompson, the Long Island native Noah Rubin or a qualifier.

John Millman is the 4th seed, opening the campaign against Guillermo Garcia-Lopez or Bradley Klahn and there are also Denis Istomin, Mackenzie McDonald, Reilly Opelka and Adrian Mannarino who will seek the semi-final spot from the second quarter. Steve Johnson, Tennys Sandgren, Palo Lorenzi, Peter Polansky, Ryan Harrison and the Collegiate player Jack Mingjie Lin are in the third quarter, all hoping for a good run in this weak but balanced part of the draw. In potentially one of the best first-round matches, the 6th seed Sam Querrey plays against the upcoming South African Lloyd Harris and the winner meets Ivo Karlovic or Radu Albot in round two.

Frances Tiafoe has decided to take a late wild card and compete in New York for the second year in a row as the 2nd seed, having a favorable draw that should propel him into the quarter-final. The 21-year-old reached the quarter-final at the Australian Open and he will seek the second ATP title in New York after Delray Beach last year. Full draw:
