In an interview to Vanity Fair Magazine the Serena Williams's husband Alexis Ohanian commented on her relationship with the American player. They met each other in Rome in 2015 and then they got married in late 2018. 'We are different in so many things, which is good because we learn from each other. We share some values: the passion to work and the competitiveness. I thought I could be the hardest worker in the world, but if I look at my wife I feel nothing. Seeing what being under pressure really means, and what it takes to reach a certain type of greatness. It's passion for the work at the next level', said Ohanian.
He furthermore praised the 23-time Major winner's commitment: 'I don't know what it takes to do what she does, but I understand the level of commitment and perseverance. Serena may wake up early to train or she works on Sunday for her apparel line, but we would never argue for It. The ambition and the commitment are not things we argue for. Respecting and understanding each other, and share those values helps so much: both, in what we do, want to be the best.'
Meanwhile Serena' coach Patrick Mouratoglou spoke about the concept of coaching: "The question is how you interact with the player to give him the strengths and the belief to do every day what he needs to do and gets what he wants at the end. Having the coach on court is also an occasion to show people what coaching is about, and that we’re not teachers at school. It’s much more than that and it’s really a connection between two people where one knows which button to press for him to use his full potential. A good coach is happy when his player has used all his potential whatever it is. When you have a kid that grew up at your tennis academy and beats the best player of all times… it’s impossible to describe. To make someone embrace their potential is the most significant accomplishment I could dream of.”
