Sixth-seeded Lucas Pouille withdraws from Rotterdam

French tennis star Lucas Pouille has withdrawn from the ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament.

The 24-year-old won't be playing in Rotterdam for the fourth year in a row because he is dealing with an illness.

The Frenchman, who was seeded at No. 6 in the Rotterdam main draw, was drawn to meet a qualifier in the first round.

Pouille was also scheduled to play doubles in Rotterdam with Belgian David Goffin.

Pouille, ranked at No. 17 in the world, hasn't had many luck at the Rotterdam event so far in his career.

The 24-year-old failed to make it past the Rotterdam qualifying event in 2016 as he was beaten by fellow compatriot Nicolas Mahut in the qualifying final round.

The Frenchman debuted in the Rotterdam main draw a year later, only to lose in the first round to Germany's Philipp Kohlschreiber.

Pouille's 2018 Rotterdam campaign was also short-lived as he lost to rising Russian star Andrey Rublev in the first round.

Pouille last played at last week's Open Sud de France in Montpellier.

The Frenchman, who had a first round bye in Montpellier, lost to Cypriot Marcos Baghdatis in the round-of-16.

Rising Canadian star Denis Shapovalov has moved into Pouille's spot in the Rotterdam main draw.

The Canadian will be meeting qualifier Franko Skugor in the first round.
