Featuring Roger Federer,Basel Open to benefit from Laver Cup in Switzerland

The Swiss Indoors will soon make player's announcements for the 2019 tournament that will take place in late October as usual. The event is set to feature once again Roger Federer, who has a deal with the organizers until this year and he will try to win his tenth title. In Switzerland, in September, the Laver Cup featuring Federer will take place. And Brennwald, speaking to Tages Anzeiger, said that Basel could take advantage from it as Laver Cup is an event with a big popularity around the world and almost all the tickets were sold in February. "Geneva will not be bad for us, it's a completely different tournament", said Brennwald.

Meanwhile, in an interview with to SRF the former player and current expert Heinz Gunthardt commented on Federer's ways to be able to stay competitive at 37 years of age: "The aggressive gamestyle suits him. Look at 2017: almost everything worked for him, also his fast and hard fought opponent Rafael Nadal often looked like old. It's not if like others did not try to play aggressive. But such a risk rarely pays off. No one can do it better than Roger. Why should not Federer deliver this style?"

On Federer's low performance against Stefanos Tsitsipas at the Australian Open, Gunthardt added: "I cannot imagine the physical aspect really played a role. Sometimes he struggled on his return, he wanted to play aggressive again the way he did last year, but he failed to do it. It looked like he was always looking for the right timing."

On his match routines, Federer said: "Before a match you stretch, run, play, take a shower, eat something. You go out and play. I find a good balance in my life. The most stressful thing is when I am late. That did not bother me back in the day. And of course sometimes my kids make me stay awake if they do not listen! They make me a have kind of normality that I really need. Also, visiting cities makes everything more interesting, as well as meeting new people."
