Rafael Nadal: 'Keeping motivation high during injuries is the key'

The new Rafael Nadal tennis centre in Costa Mujeres near Cancun, Mexico, was opened last month. The Spanish player, taking advantage of the upcoming Mexican Open in Acapulco, had the chance to visit his new amazing tennis club featuring eight clay-courts, a gym, a pool and the Rafa Nadal Museum. The place is in the Grand Palladium Costa Mujeres Resort & Spa. "Mexico is the best place to start this project", said Nadal. "We want this centre to be a reference point. This is an unbelievably complex. There is no better resort in the world featuring such a great sports complex. Here you have serious and trustable leaders."

Nadal also commented on the equal prize money in tennis: "The higher the women's level is, the better for tennis. In no other sport different than tennis you have such equality. The earnings, promotion and world success are all very high for women."

On dealing with injuries, Nadal added: "It's difficult, but it's part of the life. So far I always found a way. The most important thing is to keep the motivation high."

Nadal also commented on Jaume Munar's career: "Thanks to his passion and desire of improving, he is making very important steps forward."

Comparing his wins against Filip Krajinovic and Diego Schwartzman in Indian Wells, Nadal said: "Probably played a little bit worse today than yesterday. Maybe because of the conditions, windier out there today. But in general terms it was a positive victory again."
