Grigor Dimitrov: 'Djokovic, Federer, Nadal deserve all they have achieved'
In an interview to AS, Grigor Dimitrov praised Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic dominance. The Bulgarian beat the Serb in 2014 Madrid, while he had a painful loss with the Spaniard in an epic five-set Australian Open semifinal match. "These are players have a smart schedule and they keep working on their physical shape. They deserve all that they have achieved. It's not easy to keep up for many years", said Dimitrov.
Dimitrov admitted that it takes a lot of effort to recover from a match: "I think people do not know the recovery process we go through. After a match, I have at least a two-hour recovery to keep my body in full shape and be able to compete at a high level for the next match. After good eating and an ice bath, cryotherapy, treatment. Then we also have press duties after every match."
What would be a dream final? "For me, any Grand Slam final would be a dream. I am not strict."
What tournament would Dimitrov like to win the most this year? The Bulgarian himself gave an answer in an interview. "Wimbledon." Dimitrov has been having some tough moments during the last 12 months, having suffered a shoulder injury. came back to compete in Miami for the first time since the Australian Open. Grigor spoke about how he deals with time zone: "I just try to be there five days before playing so that my body can suit to the time. Keeping yourself hydrated and eating well is very important too. I try to always keep my usual diet before my matches, but on my days off I usually go to my favourite restaurants. I am very lucky to be able to travel to some of the best capitals in the world in terms of food. Fish, meat, pasta, fruit. The only thing I cannot live without is my ice cream. I travelled to the same cities over the last eight years and I know very well the places where I can go to eat. I always try to keep my same routines, depending on the time where I play the match. For example, if I play my first match at 11:00 AM, my routine is different than when I play a night match. For every opponent, you have a different strategy, but I try to focus mainly on my game. I like to control what I can."
