Karen Khachanov, Daniil Medvedev set for Stuttgart debut

Rising Russian stars Karen Khachanov and Daniil Medvedev have been added to the 2019 Stuttgart player field, per Tennis TourTalk.

Both Khachanov and Medvedev are set for a Stuttgart debut as they have no previous appearances at the tournament.

Khachanov, ranked at No. 12 in the world, is set to kick off his grass-court campaign earlier than in previous years.

The 22-year-old is set to play three tournaments during the grass season for the first time in his career.

The Russian's 2017 and 2018 grass campaigns featured appearances in Halle and Wimbledon.

Khachanov made the Halle semi-final in 2017 before he lost in the quarter-final at the tournament a year ago.

The Russian made the Wimbledon third round in 2017 but achieved his best result at The All England Club last year when he made the round-of-16.

On the other side, Medvedev is making a change for this grass season as he won't be opening his grass-court campaign in 's-Hertogenbosch like it was the case for the past three years.

World No. 14 Medvedev appears to be set for another busy grass schedule as he has played four tournaments in each of the past two grass court seasons.

The Stuttgart event is set to feature star-studded player field as Stan Wawrinka, Nick Kyrgios, Denis Shapovalov, Milos Raonic, Gael Monfils, Nikoloz Basilashvili are also expected to play at the tournament.

The Stuttgart event marks the beginning of the grass season as it is scheduled to be held in the opening week of the grass season, from June 10-16.
