Robredo:'Rafael Nadal always fights at 100 per cent, while Roger Federer..'

Tommy Robredo believes there are some differences in terms of intensity between Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer. Speaking to Punto de Break, the former world No. 5 said: "I won that match (2013 US Open over Federer) because he was not able to switch tactics. That was not a good day for him. Rafa loses the first set and he thinks: "Let's see what happens, if I have to win playing short balls I will and tomorrow it will be another day". To beat Rafa you have to be at 100% for the whole match, and his ball is much more uncomfortable, that forehand with a high bounce, especially for the one-handed backhand players, it's a punishment. Federer gets down from 100 per cent, Rafa never does it."

Robredo also spoke about how difficult it is for him to play Challengers while some years ago he competed on the biggest stages: "It's very complicated, I will not hide it. I still want to come through it. If within a year I will be the world No. 50 I am the happiest man in the world. If within a year I am No. 300 I may retire and I will have felt that I did not achieve the goal I wanted in the last stage of my life. Over my career I achieved many goals, some of them were not achieved by too many people, others were overcome by other players, so I am happy with the career I had. I would change a lot. In order to be an elite sportsman, you have to be very exigent with yourself. In my career I had losses I should have not gotten, bad training days, bad behaviour days. Looking back, I would have enjoyed more some wins and I would have not gotten angry with some losses. I would fight more in some moments, I would not play some tournaments or I would play others. Team decisions, this person helped me more than one other, I would take it earlier. Any person would change things about his life, also when I had a mathematics exam and before that, I watched a movie rather than studying."
