France's Lucas Pouille speaks very highly of French Open crowd
French tennis star Lucas Pouille has spoken highly of the French crowd ahead of his seventh consecutive French Open campaign.
The 25-year-old is happy to be back in his country as he will be motivated to put on a great campaign at the second Grand Slam event of the season.
Pouille, ranked at No. 25 in the world, hasn't had a great clay season so far but, with the help of the French crowd, he will be hoping to find his game and lift his form.
"It's pure happiness to play in front of this crowd, they have always been more than incredible with me. They have always supported me from beginning to end. It's a real pleasure to come back to play in France, and even more on the Philippe-Chatrier court," Pouille said of the French crowd, per the Roland Garros website.
"This (crowd) resets the counters to zero. It can help to play better, to give that extra energy."
Former world No. 10 Pouille is set to open his campaign against qualifier world No. 191 Simone Bolelli.
The Frenchman's last two French Open campaigns ended in the third round as he will be targeting to make the second week at the tournament for the first time in his career.
