Uniqlo doesn't want Roger Federer logo from Nike anymore

It has been one year that Roger Federer split with Nike. The American brand owns the RF logo and is currently holding its rights. The Swiss player said multiple times that he will get his initials back so that he could use them on his Uniqlo kits, but according to 20 Minutes, the Japanese brand does not want the RF logo, as reported by Aldo Liguori, a Uniqlo spokesman. Federer was supposed to get his initials back in March this year, and in early April, Nike cancelled the RF collection.

The sports marketing expert Hans-Willy Brockes doubts that the RF collection of Nike had particular success. "Maybe Uniqlo decided to go against the RF collection because costs are too high," said Brockes.

Federer is a passionate fan of the FC Basel. The Swiss player sometimes attends his hometown club matches and the club is thinking about potentially bringing him to Chennai after his retirement from tennis. "Given his immense popularity here, we might plan to bring him to Chennai and present him at the city's stadium once he retires," said Massimo Ceccaroni, head of the FC Basel youth academy, in an interview to The Times of India. "He knows about the city's tennis culture and that it once used to host the Chennai Open. He is probably not aware that it now has a thriving football culture as well. So if he agrees, bring him here."

Ceccaroni added: "We all know how involved Federer is with Basel. He is so humble that he always buys a ticket to watch a game. In fact, two years back, we approached him for the president's post but he declined, saying he still has a few years of tennis left in him. Hopefully, we will have him in our board of directors once he retires."
