Djokovic is a wall, but Roger Federer is the greatest ever: Valentino Rossi
In an interview to Blick, the 40-year-old MotoGP rider Valentino Rossi spoke about his admiration for the 20-time Grand Slam winner Roger Federer. They met each other once before a MotoGP race and Rossi often praises Federer on social media. "Roger is one of my heroes. I have been watching his matches for a long time. We also know each other, we sometimes text each other. I am a bit older than him, but he is not young anymore," Rossi joked. "But he is still at the top."
Asked if he watched Federer's loss to Novak Djokovic in the Wimbledon final, Rossi replied: "Oh yes. Also many of my friends are Roger fans, we often watch matches together. We shouted during the Wimbledon final! Losing two match points was a big disaster. Djokovic is like a wall. As for the class, I think Roger is still the greatest ever. It's nice to see him play."
Asked what's his secret to be at the top at his age, Rossi replied: "For me, passion is the most important thing. I think for Roger, it's the same. We are driven by passion, him for tennis. I love MotoGP. And, of course, despite his 38 years, Roger still enjoys himself playing tennis. There are athletes who do it for money. Others, because they have talent. And others because they kept the passion."
Rossi has never attended Federer's matches in Rome as he does not live there.
