Kei Nishikori e Ben McLachlan to prepare for Tokyo Olympics at Japan Open
Japanese tennis star Kei Nishikori will team up with fellow compatriot Ben McLachlan to play doubles at the Japan Open in Tokyo as part of their preparation for next year's Tokyo Olympics, per Michal Samulski.
Nishikori, 29, and 27-year-old McLachlan -- who debuted as a pair in Halle last year when they lost their opener -- are set to play alongside each just for the second time in their careers.
Nishikori has already underlined multiple times that he has extremely high expectations for the Tokyo Olympics as he will be extremely motivated to win the gold medal in both singles and doubles.
Nishikori rarely plays doubles but revealed he intends to play doubles more often now as his goal is to prepare as well as possible for the men's doubles event at the Olympics.
Nishikori, the 2014 US Open runner-up, may also play mixed doubles with 2018 US Open champion Naomi Osaka -- but the 29-year-old acknowledged that also playing the mixed doubles event could be a bit too much for him.
