Pundit shares the three keys that made Daniil Medvedev beat Novak Djokovic

Through his official Twitter account the former world No. 4 Greg Rusedski commented on Daniil Medvedev's keys in the three-set win over Novak Djokovic. The Brit wrote. "What a match from Medvedev to beat Novak Djokovic. Confidence, tactical awareness, and staying in the moment. One of the best performances we have seen all year on ATP Tour."

Djokovic spoke about his difficulties in returning Medvedev's serve: "Well, you see only when it works, or actually you remember when it works (smiling). But then probably works one out of maybe five times. I mean, I can't speak on behalf of the other players. I mean, it's just sometimes it does work; sometimes it does not. It just happens in the moment I guess you're able to follow your instinct and read the serve of your opponent and just be in the right balance to hit the shot. It's not always easy, especially when you're returning. But when you're serving, obviously you can take more chances, but again, you need to feel well. You need to feel well with conditions, with balls, with the percentage of your serve. Everything seems to fit in quite well today. That's why he took his chances and rightfully so. It worked."

On why he hit risky second serves, Medvedev said: "First of all, I have to say that I did it even in juniors sometimes. I don't do it that often. Actually, what's funny, I did it against Goffin in Wimbledon a lot, if I'm right. So I am doing it from time to time. As I say, it was just because if, for example, Novak would miss after my normal second serve, I would never do it. But I felt he was all over me, so I felt I had to do it. Even when I was hitting some doubles, I think I did two or three, zero regrets. Okay, well, I lost the point. Would be the same if I made just normal second serve."
