Maria had several breaks and it's clear that surgery is not the best option. Players do not usually want to go through surgery. But if nothing can help, you have to do it. Andy Murray had surgery too. Maria has an old injury that may not have allowed her to play at her best. But she does not need to be in a rush. If you look at Venus Williams, you can play until 37 or 38 years of age. I do not know Maria can mentally be ready for it. After 30 years it seems difficult to come back especially after surgery. But tennis players miraculously come back and some of them make a breakthrough at 30."
