Stefanos Tsitsipas announces schedule change for 2020 season
This year in the first half of the season Stefanos Tsitsipas has played almost every available week on the calendar except Marrakech/Houston in early April and Geneva/Lyon in late May. In Washington, the 20-year-old Greek said there will be some schedule changes in the 2020 season. "I will definitely reduce the number of 250s I'm going to play this year compared to last year. All the focus is going to be on the 500 events, Masters and the Grand Slams", said Tsitsipas, who will also have a busy Asian swing this year as he plays in Chengdu, Beijing and Shanghai.
On his Wimbledon first-round loss to Thomas Fabbiano, Tsitsipas said: "I watched a couple of highlights of that match. But, no, I didn't really focus too much on it."
Asked if the weather has been a problem in Washington, he replied: "Quite a bit. As you guys know, it's pretty humid here, which is the biggest, yeah, difficulty to be playing. When it's humid, the balls are flying a bit more, if I'm not wrong. The opposite, sorry. They are staying because of the humidity. So far that's the only issue."
Are those conditions at all helpful to prepare for the US Open or is it a disconnect, the weather, the humidity, the heat? "That's part of the tour. Every tournament has different conditions. New York has a lot of humidity, as well. I remember playing there last year almost dying on the court. It's okay."
