Juan Ignacio Londero: 'I cannot explain how Roger Federer is'

Juan Ignacio Londero faced Roger Federer for the first time in his life earlier this year in Cincinnati losing in a straight-set second round match. The Argentinean player said: "I cannot explain how he is. He has everything. I would like to beat him."

Londero went through some dark times: "I was ranked between the 200th and 300th rankings position. In 2017 I was not motivated, I had lost my sponsors. I was not doing well economically. I thought that I was about to turn 24 years old and what did I have? If it happened something to me, what would I live of? What do I do? I was not studying and I had no money. Nothing. I took a break. I was for a month at home. And I went ti Europe for a month. I had a pre-season in July and I went playing Challengers. I went through 11 qualies. I ended the year being happy."

He finally spoke about his highlight of the season: "It happens that your mind makes a click and you start feeling part of the elite. This is what happened at the Roland Garros. I won the first round and in my mind I felt I had played one more tournament. I felt comfortable, like if I had played that event many times. The days before I was very involved but more surprised for being at the French Open. Then I faced Nadal in the French Open fourth round and on the Philippe Chatrier", he concluded.
