Nick Kyrgios handed suspended 16-week ban for Cincinnati Masters outburst
The ATP have concluded their investigation on Nick Kyrgios as the Australian tennis star has been given a suspended 16-week ban and $25,000 fine for aggravated behavior displayed at the Cincinnati Masters.
The 24-year-old insulted a chair umpire and left the court to smash two rackets during a Cincinnati second round loss suffered against Russia's Karen Khachanov, after which he was hit by a $113,000 fine for committing a total of eight separate offenses.
However, the 16-week ban and $25,000 fine will be applied only if the Australian six-time ATP champion displays similar acts of bad behavior in the next six months.
Kyrgios, who sustained a collarbone injury over the past weekend at the Laver Cup, suffered a first round loss at the Zhuhai Championships against Italian Andreas Seppi on Tuesday.
The following day, former world No. 13 Kyrgios announced he was pulling out of the Asian swing and returning to Australia to heal the injury.
