Roger Federer was injured against Grigor Dimitrov, that's clear - Law
Speaking to The Tennis Podcast the pundit David Law spoke about Roger Federer's loss to Grigor Dimitrov in the US Open quarter-finals. Law said: "There’s two factors here. One, Roger Federer was injured tonight, that was clear. He started to really show signs of it visibly about three and a half sets in, maybe a bit earlier. He was telling us after that it’s something he came into the match with. It’s always a tricky one that because both he and Novak Djokovic a couple of nights ago, there are pains to not blame things or take away credit from their opponents. At the same time, he admitted in the press conference that he came into the match with it. It did take me back to earlier on in the match when Catherine and I were messaging and she said that Federer looked nervous when he came out onto the court. I must admit I didn’t pick up on it, but now I think about it in hindsight, maybe he was and uncertain of this physical situation and it might have affected the way he was planning to play the match.”
“Grigor Dimitrov is one of the nicest blokes on tour", added Catherine Whitaker, a fellow pundit. "Doesn’t matter how badly it goes for him, always treats everyone well in my experience. Has had a tough time. Was devastated when Peter McNamara (an early coach) died. Nice to see Grigor happy.”
