Rafael Nadal: 'I was not able to practice or recover well after US Open'

In a video message, Rafael Nadal explained the reasons behind his withdrawal from the Rolex Shanghai Masters.
The Spaniard said: "Ni hao. What can I say? Very sad to not be able to play in Shanghai this year. After what happened to my hand after the US Open, I was not able to practise or recover well. I need time to try to be ready for the future. I know how much support I have received from all of you in China. It is amazing. I’m so sorry I will not be able to play this year but I am looking forward to coming back next year. See all of you there. I hope you have a great tournament and enjoy the great players that you are going to have there. See you soon.”
From the French brand Monte Carlo Yachts to the Polish Sunreef Yachts, Nadal will not lose the contact with sea as he brought the new 80 Sunreef Power. The Spaniard visited in July the facilities of the Polish company which will build his new yacht within 2020. The yacht will also feature a pool. In 2016 he bought Beethoven but he put it on sale earlier this year.
Nadal who is reportedly getting married on 19th October to his longtime girlfriend is expected to play the Paris Masters and the ATP World Tour Finals in London. The Spaniard is neck-to-neck with Novak Djokovic for the year-end no. 1 race. Djokovic is playing the Rakuten Open in Tokyo this week, where he has reached the final. It would be the first title for Djokovic in Tokyo if he were to win the title on Sunday, against John Millman.
