Youzhny: 'What would Daniil Medvedev achieve if he had clear technique?'
The former top-ten player Mikhail Youzhny commented on Daniil Medvedev's potential. The Russian said: "I remember I faced him at the Bangkok Challenger some years ago. He travelled with the French team. He already travelled with the French team. He was not standing out at the time. Now it's obvious that he has very good speed, good footwork. But tennis depends on a lot of factors, it's not possible to point out one thing. Many things need to get combined to be world No. 4 like he is now. On how his working relationship with Denis Shapovalov started, Youzhny said: "In August, Denis' mother contacted Boris Lvovich and he asked me what I was doing. They wanted to have me with them in Cincinnati, Winston Salem and US Open. My plans were already set and I could not go to Cincinnati, but I came later. After the US Open, I had to look at some younger American guys, so Denis and I trained at the IMG Academy for five days. Then he went to the Laver Cup and to Asia, and I had some duties prior to the St. Petersburg Open, then I played the Legends Cup in Mallorca and then I went to Antalya."
