2019 runner-up Casper Ruud to return to Houston in 2020
Rising Norwegian star Casper Ruud, 20, has signed up to return to the U.S. Men's Clay-Court Championship in Houston next year, the tournament announced.
The 20-year-old is set to make back-to-back appearances on the clay courts of Houston as he debuted at the tournament earlier this year.
The Norwegian fell just short of having a dream debut in Houston as he ended runner-up in the final fellow rising star Cristian Garin.
"Casper won a lot of fans as he battled to our final last year,” Tournament Director Bronwyn Greer said. “He is part of a great group of rising stars on the ATP Tour and we are very excited to welcome him back to River Oaks in April."
Ruud, ranked at No. 56 in the world, is enjoying a breakthrough season on the Tour and he will be eager to further continue his rise and improvement next year.
Ruud, who achieved a career-high ranking of No. 54 this year, considers clay as his favorite surface and he will be aiming to make it a step further in Houston next year.
