Belinda Bencic reveals how she will spend her WTA Finals prize money

Belinda Bencic was asked how she will spend her $995,000 WTA Finals semifinals prize money. The Swiss player replied: "A property. A Lamborghini. A private flight. And a yatch (laughter). No no: I think it's a big step forward that women have such a high prize money, it's even bigger than the men (London's ATP Finals). But I think it would be nice if the money was divided better, with players between 100th and 200th rankings positions earning more. They go to Australia in economy class and have to play two days after. Hopefully they can bring with them a coach and a physio. Because they are professionals too. If people says that I earn so much over a week, it's not right. I have been playing tennis since I was three years old. But of course I am very happy about it. I may have a spa weekend."

On her retirement against Elina Svitolina in the third set, Bencic added: "I did not expect cramps. On 6-5 first set I felt a spasm on my thight. Then I had a foot cramp, then again my thight. With cramps it's difficult, you almost cannot solve it. I tried to play a risky tennis but it did not work. "

On her foot injury, Bencic added: "I skipped some tournaments after the US Open as it got inflammated. I would have needed a longer break in order to completely heal but I could not afford it. Since then we did not train a lot, I was in an economic mood. There were better and worse days with the foot. Against Ashleigh Barty (at the start of the tournament) it was worse. Now I am very happy to have a break, make it completely heal and then start from stretch next year. Everything is clear, the inflammation should disappear during the break."
