Boris Becker: 'I am a big supporter of the equal prize money'
The six-time Major winner Boris Becker spoke about the differences between ATP and WTA Tours. The former German player said: "I am a big supporter. I love the women's game. I think the Grand Slams would not be the same without it. I love the combined events on the ATP Tour with the women and women. There is enough money on the table, so why don't we square it?"
Becker was seen dealing with a leg injury on Thursday in Germany when launching his new tennis academy. Speaking about the consequences of being a professional player for many years, he added: "It was just my style, the one that I did better on court. I am happy to be able to walk up again. But those are the scars of war.' Becker also noted how tennis has changed currently. 'Today a 22-year-old is a talent. At this age, I already had my third sporting crisis."
Meanwhile Dominic Thiem spoke about the dominance of Federer, Nadal and Djokovic: "We are in an amazing situation: Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal have won 16 or more Grand Slam titles, more than any other player before. That's bad luck for our younger players, but at the same time good luck because we can play with the three greatest players ever. The biggest difference between them and the others is consistency."
