Djokovic: 'I had my most memorable matches against Roger Federer, Nadal'
Novak Djokovic was asked what his two most memorable matches are. The Serbian player replied: "There are now two: 2012 Australian Open final against Rafael Nadal and 2019 Wimbledon final against Roger Federer. A privilege to be part of both not just because I won."
On the next generation, Djokovic added: "You have Tsitsipas right now, I don’t know if I can count Medvedev as he’s a bit older. You have Shapovalov... I like the Canadian boys, Denis and Felix.... and Zverev, of course!"
Asked what's the favorite part of his game, Djokovic replied: "The backhand. ‘I’ve tried to make it like a brick wall."
The Swiss coach Georges Deniau recalled when he worked with Federer in the Switzerland's Davis Cup team: "What impressed me the most in practice is that he was doing everything perfectly, doing all what he was told to', Deniau said. 'I remember when he joined us in February 2004, in Romania, after winning the Australian Open and becoming the world No. 1. "Georges, what do you expect from me"? I reply him that we will do a first day at mid intensity and the day after a set in singles, a doubles and what he wants depending on his feelings."
Federer is set to start his new season at the Australian Open as he will skip the ATP Cup where he was supposed to pair up with Henri Laaksonen.
