Dominic Thiem: 'I receive many messages from haters on social media'

Dominic Thiem was asked how he deals with social media channels. The Austrian player said: "It belongs to our days, everyone should accept it. As long as I do not check my mobile phone for a too long time during tournaments, for me it's very good. As top class athletes we have the opportunity to use those networks for unbelievable positive things. We can spread positive energy and be role models. Maybe even more than before."

On how he deals with comments from haters, Thiem added: "From my first matches on the Challenger Tour, I am getting the worst comments from who loses bets. I do not take them too seriously. You should not care about it."

On his love for oceans, Thiem added: "It's an unbelievable important problem that requires attention. The same thing for the animals' wellbeing. Both are very important for me also because I was educated that way. The planet is so beautiful and hopefully many generations can live there."

Asked how big the pressure was from his country, Austria, Thiem replied: "The pressure I put on myself is definitely bigger than the external pressure. But I obviously want to do well in the home tournaments. It's unbelievable when the whole stadium cheers on you. I like a lot when I play in Austria."

Thiem will play the ATP Finals in London.
