Karen Khachanov shares what makes Rafael Nadal great
In an interview to the New York Times, Karen Khachanov spoke about Rafael Nadal. The Russian player praised the Spaniard's fighting spirit: “When I close my eyes and think about Rafa, I only imagine the complete aspects of his game. He’s such a fighter, and he’s always connected. No matter how close a match is, he can always turn around a situation and come back to win.”
Brad Gilbert reflected on Nadal's amazing year: “If you had told Rafa at the start of the year that he would win one Grand Slam, he’d say, ‘O.K., a good year'. You tell him he wins two Slams, he pushes the chips all in. He’s had a great year so far.”
Meanwhile Bethanie Mattek Sands reflected on the differences between singles and doubles in terms of interest and media coverage: “That’s not acceptable to me. People pay attention to singles just because this is how it’s been done. Doubles has great entertainment value, but it hasn’t been given a chance", admitted the American who won multiple Grand Slam titles.
Meanwhile Jaume Munar spoke about his goals: "First of all I would like to enjoy what I am doing. I started playing tennis at almost ten years and now that I am 22, I keep enjoying like before and that's the long-term goal. There are many tournaments. Australia is my favorite Grand Slam, Wimbledon is history as well as Davis Cup. I want to dream for everything and starting from here we will see where we will get."
