Kim Clijsters delays comeback plans

Through her officials Twitter account the former world No. 1 Kim Clijsters announced she will not be able to compete on the WTA Tour in January 2020. The Belgian had shared in September that her attempt was to play the Australian Open next year, but she has now delayed her return.

"I’ve had to make the decision that I will not be able to compete in January", Clijsters stated. "I am undergoing rehab and treatment for a knee injury. It’s a setback but I’m determined as ever to get back to the game I love. I really appreciate all your support and encouragement."

Daniil Medvedev revealed the key advice she got from a female coach when he was a kid. Recalling his childhood from six to ten years of age, the world No. 4 said: "Her Golden Rule was, ‘The one who wins the match is the one who made more balls over the net’, which is easy to understand. I'm into improving every day, and I think that's how you can reach the top. Because even being here, I could sit down, relax, and say, ‘Yeah, okay, maybe I don't have any points to defend till next summer, so I can be relaxed'. No, I want to be a better player. I want to play better every day. That's why I don't have time to look back and [I am] only looking forward and staying in the present."
