Nadal can play for a few more years although he is less stronger - Toni

In an interview to AS Rafael Nadal's uncle Toni reassessed his nephew's season. Toni said: "He played less. He got to the ATP Finals with just 12 tournaments. I saw him playing well throughout the year except in Monte Carlo, Barcelona and Madrid."

Did Rafael struggle in convincing himself to have a light schedule? "It was Carlos Moya and Francis Roig's job. I suppose not, because he is aware he is 33 years old and he doesn't have the same strength as before."

Until when will Rafa be on Tour? "I heard many people saying his career would be short. The truth is that he has been on the tour since 2003 and since 2005 at his best level. 15 years at the top. I think he has margin to play for a few more years. It will depend on his game and how the others evolve. If there are younger players who make his life complicated he may leave. But I think it will not happen."

On the new Davis Cup format, Toni added: "There are people who are connected to the past, we liked this competition and my best memories are dated back to Sevilla, but switching surface the top players were unlikely to play. I'd rather look at the positives, most of the things have been done well."
