Alex de Minaur confirmed for Acapulco

Per Michal Samulski, rising Australian star Alex de Minaur has signed up to play at the Mexican Open next year and he will make back-to-back appearances on the hard courts of Acapulco. 

The 20-year-old Australian made the Acapulco quarterfinal earlier this year in his debut at the Mexican ATP 500 event, before losing to eventual runner-up Alexander Zverev. 

De Minaur, who enjoyed a breakthrough season on the Tour in 2019, is a big signing for the Acapulco event and he will certainly be among the top favorites to win it all at the tournament next season. 

However, it won't be easy for de Minaur to claim the title as 19-time Grand Slam champion and world No. 1 Rafael Nadal is set to headline the 2020 Acapulco player field and aim for his third title at the event. 

World No. 18 De Minaur made five finals this past season and claimed titles on three occasions as he made it all the way in Sydney, Atlanta and Zhuhai, while he ended runner-up in Basel and Next Gen ATP Finals.
