Denis Shapovalov excited to represent Canada at ATP Cup

Rising Canadian star Denis Shapovalov is looking forward to starting his season by representing his country as he thinks that it is "great to have an event like the ATP Cup."

Canada will be one of 24 nations competing at the inaugural ATP Cup as Shapovalov is set to be joined in Team Canada by Felix Auger-Aliassime, Steven Diez, Peter Polansky and Adil Shamasdin.

The inaugural ATP Cup will be held across three Australian cities from January 3-12 as 24 nations will be divided into six groups, with the winner of each group and the two best second-placed teams progressing into the quarterfinal stage. 

"I think it’s great to have an event like this, especially at the start of the year... you get to bond with the other guys, as well as the teams from other countries. It’s exciting to have another competition where you get to represent your country," Shapovalov exclusively told the ATP Tour. 

Canada hasn't had luck with their draw as they will be battling in Brisbane against Australia, Germany and Greece for the top place of Group F.
