Roger Federer: 'Season would have been amazing if I had won Wimbledon, ATP Finals'
Roger Federer commented on the season he had. The Swiss player said: "My year has been very good, it would have been amazing if I had won Wimbledon or maybe the World Tour Finals at the end of the year but it wasn't so, I still was able to win four titles plus the Hopman Cup and the Laver Cup which was fantastic in Geneva with Sascha (Zverev) and all the team, we had a great time there already, important for me is to be healthy and feel like I compete with the best like winning over Novak in London, that was something really special after the tough matches I had against him in the past. The semis I had against Rafa (Nadal) at Wimbledon, that was something special after all the tough matches we have had against each other, so I am very happy with my level of play so I just got to keep on working hard, and always find new ways to make life difficult for the young guys."
Simon Ammann spoke to Blick about his comeback to the competition after an injury. Ammann was asked if he would like his career to last longer than Roger Federer's. "It cannot be", he said. "That's why tennis is great. You can prepare for important events. Even if the breaks during the season will be too short even for Roger. It's not the moment to make big projects now. After my heavy fall back in 2015, the most important thing was to come back. I think I can keep competing and hopefully, my level is higher than it was last year."
