Boris Becker: 'Maybe Roger Federer is enjoying as none of his records can't be..'

Instead of making the final preparations for the Masters 1000 events in Madrid and Rome, the players have been forced to sit at their homes ever since the first days of March, with the coronavirus pandemic putting everything on hold for the last two months. Starting from Indian Wells and Miami, a whole bunch of tournaments had to be canceled and switched to 2021, including Wimbledon that will close its gates in June for the first time since 1945! Roland Garros and the US Open organizers are still giving their best to host their tournaments and save at least something in this plagued season, although it will not be easy to gather all those players from different parts of the world and carry on with the matches even without the crowd in the stands.

Some small tournaments with no spectators and with a single umpire have already been on in Germany and Florida but there will be no official tournaments at least until August, with everyone waiting for some positive news about the virus in the next couple of months, especially in the USA and western Europe. After the Australian Open, the GOAT race between Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic has become even more exciting, with the Serb lifting his eighth trophy in Melbourne to move three Majors behind Roger and two behind Rafa, pushing his closest rivals to the limits and hoping for more of the same in the rest of the year.

Nadal would have been the favorite to grab the 13th trophy at Roland Garros while Federer would have certainly stood a chance at Wimbledon where he had two match points against Novak in the final last July. The most accomplished trio in tennis history will probably have to wait until 2021 to resume their battle for the greatest player in history and Boris Becker believes that Roger Federer has nothing against that plan, as all of his records stand untouched at the moment. Rafael Nadal had the opportunity to catch or pass Roger's Major tally this season while Novak Djokovic was getting closer and closer to his ultimate record of 310 weeks as world no. 1, with all that having to wait at the moment.
