Lucas Pouille: Weather has been great at French Open like never before

Five-time ATP champion Lucas Pouille finds it a bit funny that the weather has been great at the French Open over the last week. 

The French Open qualifying was scheduled to start early-last week, while the main draw of the event was scheduled to kick off on May 24. 

On March 12, the ATP suspended the Tour for six weeks but only five days later the French Tennis Federation reacted on its own and rescheduled the French Open for a late-September start. 

On Monday, former world No. 58 Pouille returned to the practice courts when he arrived to train at Roland Garros. 

Rain delays have never been a strange thing to see during the French Open. 

"What is incredible is that the weather has been good! It has never been nice for the qualifications and the first rounds and by chance it’s been 27 degrees for the past eight days. Anyway, it’s weird to come back here, at that time, it’s an event that we look forward to each time... It's a bit odd to come and hit the ball for an hour and then leave," Pouille said, per France Inter.

The French Open organizers are motivated to find a way to stage the event at some point of the year. 

ATP CEO Andrea Gaudenzi confirmed the biggest focus will be on staging the biggest events if the Tour resumes. 

The French Open organizers hope to avoid playing behind the closed doors but that could happen if necessary.

It remains to be seen if the French Open will take place this year.
