Agent: Grigor Dimitrov is already feeling better and recovering gradually

Agent Georgi Stoimenov has said that his client Grigor Dimitrov is already feeling better and recovering well from the coronavirus.

On Sunday evening, world No. 19 Dimitrov announced he had tested positive for the coronavirus in Monaco.

Dimitrov, the 2017 Nitto ATP Finals champion, participated at the Adria Tour event in Zadar over this past weekend.

The Bulgarian arrived to Zadar during the week and on Saturday afternoon he played his opener at the tournament against home favorite Borna Coric.

Former world No. 3 Dimitrov was far from his best tennis and he lost easily 4-1 4-1 after feeling unwell on the court.

The Bulgarian then withdrew from his Saturday evening clash, before he also pulled out of his Sunday clash against world No. 1 Novak Djokovic.

Two days later he is already fine as his agent Stoimenov told BTV, as revealed on Tennishead: “He is recovering gradually.

“Yesterday he no longer has any of the symptoms he had before. He felt a little tired, but over time he got better.

“When he returned to Monaco he did not feel well and had full tests. He didn’t actually have any specialised tests for COVID-19, he had full tests on his whole body, and then of course it said he had the virus.

"They did a lung scan and then, to our delight, they were absolutely clean."

Agent says they can't figure out where exactly Grigor Dimitrov contracted the coronavirus

"We tried to analyse things – who, how and where it may have come from, but it’s hard work and leads to nowhere.

"Everyone tried to observe them, but the emotion that accompanied the players related to the fact that they hadn’t seen each other for 3-4 months.

“Everyone felt quite liberated, maybe that made them cross some boundaries. As for the public – you know the stadium was for 4000 people and it was full.

“There were an awful lot of supporters who took pictures with each of them and followed them in the places where it was allowed. Was it observed? Conditionally. But obviously emotion prevails over the existing rules in Serbia.”

Three more Adria Tour participants tested positive after Grigor Dimitrov as the tests of Djokovic, Coric and Viktor Troicki also came back as positive.
