Damir Dzumhur feeling no symptoms, epidemiologist says for now no need to test him

Bosnian tennis player Damir Dzumhur has no coronavirus symptoms and he has been practicing regularly over the last few days, his PR team confirmed to Bosnian media outlet Klix. 

Dzumhur, a three-time ATP champion, participated in the first leg of the Adria Tour that took place on June 13-14 in Belgrade. 

The Bosnian didn't play in the second leg of the Adria Tour that took place over this past weekend in Zadar. 

On Sunday evening, Bulgarian tennis star Grigor Dimitrov announced he had tested positive for the coronavirus. 

The Bulgarian played his opening match in Zadar on Saturday afternoon, before he withdew from the event after feeling unwell. 

A week earlier, 2017 Nitto ATP Finals champion Dimitrov participated at the Adria Tour event in Belgrade -- where Dzumhur played. 

"Our tennis player is feeling no symptoms and he has been practicing regularly and as he usually does. The recommendation from the epidemiologist is that there is no need to test him if he feels no symptoms," Dzumhur's PR team told Klix. 

Former world No. 23 Dzumhur will be tested if there is a need.

The Adria Tour event in Banja Luka -- that is scheduled to start in early-July -- is now in jeopardy.

"Damir himself is awaiting on the final decision, he will be tested if there is a need. For now, there is no need for him to be tested," Dzumhur's PR team said. 

Damir Dzumhur certainly hopes everything will end up well 

On July 5, Dzumhur and world No. 1 Novak Djokovic are scheduled to meet in an exhibition in the capital city of Bosnia, Sarajevo. 

Dzumhur, who was born in Sarajevo, spoke several times about excited he was about playing against Djokovic in his hometown.

"The people of Sarajevo can't wait for the match, the best player in the world is coming to town, one of the best players ever. It will be a special moment for my hometown and for my country. The people of Sarajevo will finally have a chance to see Novak Djokovic. For me it will be a big thing, the highlight of my career," Dzumhur recently told RTS.

Dzumhur has a close relationship with Djokovic as he said: "For years we have been training, hanging out, our relationship has been great ever since we met in 2014. As time went by, our relationship progressed. Novak is a great guy, the best player in the world, maybe the greatest of all time. He has a humble side and that's something you really appreciate."

It remains to be seen if Damir Dzumhur will get a chance to play Djokovic in Sarajevo.
